Suryakumar Yadav Responds to Lean Patch in T20Is: “Not Out of Form”

Suryakumar Yadav Responds to T20I Struggles: Despite a prolonged lean patch in T20Is, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav remains confident that runs will come. In the third T20I against South Africa, Suryakumar’s struggles continued as he made just 12 runs off 11 balls, extending his run of low scores. However, the Indian skipper dismissed concerns about his form, stating, “I’m not out of form, just out of runs.”

Suryakumar Yadav’s Response to Lean Patch

In an honest post-match interview, Suryakumar Yadav acknowledged his lack of runs but remained confident about returning to form. His low scores in the third T20I, which included an 11-ball 12, have raised questions about his recent T20I form. The India skipper, however, emphasized that runs will come when the time is right, stating, “I’ve been batting beautifully in the nets. When the runs have to come, they’ll come. Not out of form, definitely out of runs.”

His poor run has now extended to 21 innings, with exceptions being his 75 against Bangladesh in October and an unbeaten 47 against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Despite his lean patch, Suryakumar remains positive about his approach and believes that consistency will soon lead to better performances.

India’s Comeback and Skipper’s Confidence

After India’s 7-wicket win over South Africa in the third T20I, Suryakumar spoke about his team’s resilience. “How you come back into the series is more important. And we did the same thing. We wanted to go back to basics, do the same things we were doing in Cuttack, and the results were on our side,” he noted. Suryakumar’s leadership and confidence were vital in guiding India through the series’ ups and downs.

Arshdeep Singh’s Redemption and Suryakumar’s Confidence

Following a poor performance in the second T20I, Arshdeep Singh redeemed himself in the third match with an excellent bowling display. “Just sticking to the basics, and trusting my skill set,” said Arshdeep, highlighting the importance of focusing on fundamentals. His performance played a key role in India’s clinical victory.

Markram’s Praise for Indian Bowlers

South African captain Aiden Markram praised the Indian bowlers for their outstanding performance. “They (Indian pacers) got the ball in the right areas and before you know it, we were 4-5 down,” Markram said. He also credited Abhishek Sharma, whose brisk 35 off 18 balls took the match further away from South Africa, with the Proteas struggling to contain India’s batting.

Varun Chakravarthy’s Contribution

Varun Chakravarthy, who claimed two wickets in the middle overs, also reflected on the conditions and his role in India’s win. “The ball was skidding more than turning, that’s what I tried to do,” said Chakravarthy, who was instrumental in slowing down the South African innings.

Team’s Growth and Open Communication

The bowlers’ solid performance came after a team meeting where honest conversations were held to address the team’s previous shortcomings. Chakravarthy acknowledged the importance of these open discussions, adding, “We had a bowling meeting and some honest conversations. Credit to the management and bowlers for a two-way conversation.”

Suryakumar Yadav’s Confidence Remains Strong

Despite the ongoing run drought, Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership and positive mindset have been crucial in India’s series win. As India gears up for the remaining T20Is, fans remain hopeful that Suryakumar will soon return to his destructive best, as he prepares to lead from the front in upcoming matches.
