Charlotte Edwards Confident Despite England’s Batting Concerns Ahead of IND vs ENG Women’s World Cup 2025 Clash

England Women’s head coach Charlotte Edwards expressed optimism ahead of the IND vs ENG Women’s World Cup 2025 clash, saying she is “disappointed but not concerned” despite recent batting struggles. England have remained unbeaten in the tournament with three wins from four matches, but their top order stumbled to 78 for 7 against Pakistan before rain ended the contest.

“In tournaments like this, you have to move on quickly,” Edwards told reporters in Indore. “We’ve reviewed that game, but our focus is on India — they’re very strong in home conditions.”

England’s batting has shown vulnerability against swing, as fast bowlers like Pakistan’s Fatima Sana and Bangladesh’s Marufa Akter troubled them earlier. However, Edwards remains calm. “I’m not worried. Tournament cricket changes quickly,” she said.

A major positive has been Sophie Ecclestone’s return to form. The world’s No.1 left-arm spinner has taken nine wickets at 6.66, including 4 for 17 against Sri Lanka. Edwards praised her: “Sophie’s bowling beautifully, and she’s happy again after a tough winter.”

With India’s known weakness against left-arm spin, England are set to attack using both Ecclestone and Linsey Smith. “We know India’s record, and we’ll look to use our spinners effectively,” Edwards added.

As India aim to recover from losses to South Africa and Australia, the upcoming India vs England Women’s World Cup 2025 clash in Indore promises to be a high-stakes encounter. Edwards believes her team thrives in pressure situations: “The atmosphere will be electric. We’re ready for the challenge.”
