IPL 2026 Points Table: PBKS Lead, SRH Rise After Match 41

Punjab Kings Hold Top Spot

After 41 matches of the IPL 2026 season, the points table has taken clearer shape following SRH convincing six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night. At the summit remain the Punjab Kings, who continue to set the pace with 13 points from eight matches.

Punjab’s rise has not been built on flashes of brilliance alone but on sustained, match-to-match consistency. They are the only side in the tournament so far that has avoided prolonged dips in form. Their top order has played with freedom and intent, often setting strong platforms, while the middle order has ensured momentum is not lost. With the ball, they have shown control in all phases, from powerplay discipline to composed death bowling. Their net run rate reflects this balance, placing them in a strong position as the season moves toward its decisive phase.

SRH Climb to Third with Fifth Straight Win

Few teams have shifted momentum as dramatically as Sunrisers Hyderabad. Not long ago, they were hovering around the middle of the table with questions surrounding their consistency. Now, five consecutive victories have lifted them into third place with 12 points from nine matches.

They are level on points with Royal Challengers Bengaluru but remain just behind due to net run rate. What stands out about SRH is the manner of their wins. Their chasing has been fearless and calculated at the same time. Big targets have not intimidated them. Instead, they have approached run chases with clarity, often accelerating at key moments to take games away from opponents.

This surge has turned SRH into one of the most dangerous sides in the competition. Confidence is high, roles are clearly defined, and their batting unit in particular looks capable of dismantling any bowling attack on its day.

RCB Eye Top Position

Royal Challengers Bengaluru sit in second place with 12 points from eight matches and hold the best net run rate in the tournament. That number is not accidental. It reflects how dominant they have been in their victories.

Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, RCB have found a strong balance between aggressive batting and disciplined bowling. They have regularly restricted opponents to manageable totals and then chased with authority. Their approach has been clinical rather than chaotic.

A crucial fixture against the Gujarat Titans now presents an opportunity. A win would push RCB to the top of the table for the first time this season. Given their form and superior net run rate, they are well positioned to challenge for a top-two finish, which carries a significant advantage in the playoff structure.

The Middle Table Tightens

Just behind the top three, the Rajasthan Royals occupy fourth place with 12 points from nine matches. They are separated from SRH only by net run rate, highlighting how narrow the margins are at the top.

This has created a tightly packed group where four teams are realistically in contention for the top spot. Every match now carries added weight, as a single result can shift positions dramatically.

Gujarat Titans remain in fifth place with eight points from eight matches and are still very much in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Delhi Capitals sit sixth with six points and need a strong run in the coming games to stay in contention.

Further down the table, the pressure intensifies. Teams like the Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants find themselves in a difficult position, needing consistent wins to revive their campaigns.

Mumbai Indians’ Crisis Deepens

Mumbai Indians’ latest defeat has pushed them deeper into trouble. With six losses in eight matches, they remain in ninth position and face a steep climb to reach the playoffs.

Injuries have not helped their cause. The absence of Rohit Sharma and concerns around Quinton de Kock have disrupted their batting stability. Meanwhile, captain Hardik Pandya has yet to deliver the kind of performances expected from a leader of his stature.

Even with Jasprit Bumrah leading the attack, the bowling unit has struggled to contain opposition batters. Large totals have been conceded repeatedly, leaving the team with too much to chase. At this stage, their playoff hopes depend not just on winning but on a near-perfect run combined with favorable results elsewhere.

Orange and Purple Cap Battles Intensify

The race for individual honors remains as competitive as the team standings. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals continues to lead the Orange Cap standings, having crossed the 400-run mark in nine matches. His aggressive style at the top has been a major factor in his team’s success.

Close behind is Abhishek Sharma of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who has surged to 425 runs after a series of impactful performances. The gap between the leading run scorers remains narrow, suggesting that the leaderboard could change quickly in the coming matches.

In the Purple Cap race, Eshan Malinga leads with 15 wickets. He is closely followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jofra Archer and Anshul Kamboj, all tied on 14 wickets. With such small margins, every spell in the coming games could prove decisive in determining the winner.

As the tournament progresses, both the team standings and individual races are shaping up for a compelling finish, with very little separating the contenders.
