India Clinch 2-0 Series Sweep Against West Indies in Delhi

India wrapped up their 2-0 Test series victory over West Indies on the fifth morning in Delhi, led by a composed KL Rahul, who scored a crucial fifty. Rahul and Dhruv Jurel guided India to a comfortable win, despite West Indies’ resistance in the final session. Skipper Shubman Gill also contributed with his attacking intent, though he fell attempting a big shot. India sealed the series win just inside the first hour of play.

The extended battle in Delhi, compared to the three-day finish in Ahmedabad, highlighted West Indies’ improved batting resilience. In their first innings in Delhi, they nearly doubled their previous outing, totaling 390 runs. Gill enforced the follow-on, keeping Indian bowlers on the field for 118.5 overs, showcasing both discipline and persistence. Despite West Indies’ fight, India’s consistent performance ensured victory.

Key contributions came from Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 175, and Sai Sudharsan, who made 87, while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten at 129*. For the West Indies, John Campbell (113) and Shai Hope (103) were notable performers, but the Indian bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah (3-44) and Kuldeep Yadav (3-104), proved decisive.

West Indies’ improved show, including the final-wicket stand from Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales, extended the contest to Day 5, but India’s combination of solid batting and disciplined bowling secured a comprehensive series sweep.

Brief Scores:

India: 518/5 decl. (Yashasvi Jaiswal 175, Shubman Gill 129, Sai Sudharsan 87) & 124/3 (KL Rahul 58)

West Indies: 248 & 390 (f/o) (John Campbell 113, Shai Hope 103, Justin Greaves 50)
