R Ashwin CSK KKR RR trade: Targets Nitish Rana, Venkatesh Iyer

R Ashwin CSK KKR RR trade — Amid the ongoing Sanju Samson–Ravindra Jadeja–Sam Curran transfer talks between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), former India star R Ashwin has suggested two names CSK should pursue at the IPL 2026 auction.

Ashwin’s Ideal Replacements for CSK

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said CSK should target Nitish Rana from RR and Venkatesh Iyer from KKR to fill the crucial No. 3 spot if Jadeja and Curran leave.

“The moment Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja have gone there (to RR), I see Nitish Rana coming into the auction. So, Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer will 100 percent be on CSK’s radar,” Ashwin said.

He added that Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson could open for CSK, with Rana or Iyer slotting at No. 3, followed by Brevis, Dube, and Cameron Green.

Why Rana and Iyer Fit CSK’s Line-Up

Ashwin explained that Iyer is a “replica of Shivam Dube” who excels with lofted shots down the ground, while Rana’s ability to use bounce and play square makes him perfect for Chepauk.

The IPL 2026 retention deadline is November 15, with trade discussions between CSK and RR still ongoing.
