Trade Talks With CSK Progressing
According to ESPNcricinfo and TOI, both CSK and RR have initiated the Expression of Interest process for a blockbuster trade involving Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran. Once the players’ written consent is finalized, the IPL Governing Council must approve the agreement.
“Consent has been obtained from all three players,” a franchise official reportedly confirmed, indicating the deal could be completed within 48 hours.
RR’s Next Captain: Jurel or Jaiswal?
Samson, who has represented RR for 11 seasons, informed management after the 2025 season that he wanted a change. RR sources say Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal are leading candidates to take charge if the trade proceeds.
Jaiswal’s explosive batting and Jurel’s calm leadership in domestic cricket have both impressed team director Kumar Sangakkara, who is likely to play a role in the final decision.
Samson’s Legacy With RR
Since debuting in 2013, Samson has scored 4,027 runs with 25 fifties, leading RR to the 2022 IPL final. He has captained 67 matches, winning 33.
Jadeja and Curran’s Profiles
Ravindra Jadeja, a CSK veteran and former RR player, remains one of the league’s top all-rounders with 143 wickets and 2,700+ runs. Meanwhile, Sam Curran, once the IPL’s costliest signing, adds flexibility as a finisher and seam-bowling option.
